Shannon Perri holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Texas State University and a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas. Her fiction, essays, reviews, and interviews have appeared in The Millions, Joyland, Texas Highways, Texas Observer, PANK, Sycamore Review, CRAFT, Literary Orphans, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. Her story, “Liquid Gold,” was a finalist in the Texas Observer Short Fiction Contest; “The Resurrection Act” was awarded a Joyland Publisher’s Pick; “Orientation” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize; and “The Senator” is forthcoming with Bellevue Literary Review as the winner of the 2026 Goldenberg Prize for Fiction. She lives in South Austin with her husband and two sons, where she is at work on a story collection and novel.
